Nicole M. Weatherly
Nicole’s career path includes teaching, chemical engineering, management consulting, project management, change management, writing/editing/publishing, multimedia design, digital transformation, and social entrepreneurship.
In 2017, Nicole founded Superstar X, inspired by her brother Edward K. Weatherly’s life and artwork. Edward’s journey with schizophrenia, substance use disorder, housing instability, identity, and HIV, along with his achievements in academia, classical piano, musical theatre, and pop-graffiti art, motivated Nicole to create innovative approaches to multidimensional wellness.
Superstar X connects Nicole with her roots and the world. Growing up in the Village of Czar, Alberta, Nicole’s values are deeply embedded in connection and community. Despite the expansive freedom of rural Alberta, she often felt “different” and yearned for a place where she could fully express herself and find her community.
Nicole “came out” as a lesbian at nearly 30 years old. Since 2016, she has called Tkaronto, Ontario (Treaty 13) home. She now experiences a stronger sense of belonging and continues to celebrate her identity, while destigmatizing being “different.”
Dedicated to co-creating a just world, Nicole focuses on activating connection and eradicating oppression, especially to benefit children and youth. She is passionate about transforming her unearned privileges for the betterment of All.
Nicole is dedicated to listening, (un)learning, and taking action to eradicate racism and other injustices, with a particular focus on supporting Indigenous Peoples, Black People, People of Colour, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
