Carol Appah

Recently from Calgary, Alberta (Treaty 7), Carol is currently living her dream life in Brooklyn, NY (Lenapehoking or Land of the Lenape), expanding her impact in the world as a poet, educator, ceramic artist, and DJ under the moniker “DJ Capps.” She is an avid traveller and has a passion for the arts and nature.

Carol, as a child of immigrants, is a proud first-generation Ghanian-Canadian with deep roots and love of both her familial country and Canada, her country of birth. She attended the University of Alberta, graduating with a Bachelor of Education Degree with a minor in special education.  

As synchronicity would have it, Carol joined The X Team in September 2020, right on time-and-space to help co-create the debut publication of Superstar X Magazine fully to life. Carol’s keen eye for design (plus she’s an aficionado of pop-culture + magazines), along with her empathy and desire to make a positive difference in the world, make her a fierce humxn to co-create goodness with.

As a straight cisgender ally and Woman of Colour, Carol is proud to be part of The X Team. She loves co-creating content that focuses on sharing stories and honouring the voices of Black, Indigenous Peoples, People of Colour, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
